WEDDING MVPS
Andy Lynch
I’ve known Scott since 2002 when we were both interns at Snell & Wilmer in Phoenix. My favorite early memory is when he turned my fiancée and I away at the door because we were too early for his party. Only later did I learn about the altered space/time continuum that is “Scott Time”. Seriously though, the man is legend and I’m honored to have so many crazy adventures with him over the years and across the country. We absolutely love Nina and had so much fun hanging out with them in Nashville for Pilgrimage Festival. Can’t wait to see what this amazing couple cooks up in Austin.
Nekee Pandya
Despite both hailing from NYC and attending the same college, Nekee and Nina did not meet until fate threw them together when they were both left roommate-less while living in LA. Nekee moved a bit faster than Scott, asking Nina to move in after their very first meeting, which included a wine-filled round of their signature game, "I have done this...have you?" Their friendship thrived over spin classes (on the occasions when Nina was able to drag Nekee out of bed at 5AM), European adventures, and losing their phones at various music festivals. Nekee eventually moved back to NYC, but she and Nina have proven that you can turn strangers you meet on Westside Rentals in your 30s into life-long besties, even living on opposite coasts
Mark Gimbel
I am so grateful for Nina. Not only is she brilliant, but she keeps me from worrying that Scott will move back into my room again.
Melinda Small
Together in their formative years Melinda and Nina were stars of stage and soccer. 100% of people would agree, so no need to look in the yearbook to confirm that. After approximately a decade, they moved their friendship on the road and landed in the big apple. Nina almost broke up the band when she moved to LA and found Scott but luckily the friendship remained resilient. Melinda eventually followed Nina to the City of Angels, but turns out it was about 6 months too late as Nina & Scott decided to stay in Austin until further notice.
Avi Mallin
For decades, much like the mighty current of the North Atlantic, I have been constantly interwoven with Scott, softening his edges (as much as possible) and functioning as a steadying force in his life, influencing his world view and leaving you with the beautiful and majestic Hvítserkur Sea Stacks of northwestern Iceland that he is today! You're welcome! It's been my pleasure, but Nina, you got it from here!
Jess 'J-Bug' Hamilton
Jess and Nina began their friendship learning to dance the Morris as international day representatives of the Nodics in 6th grade. Knowledge from this experience proved invaluable 10 years later as the two journeyed to Nina’s motherland and were designated entertainment czars during a 6 hour delay in BOSn Logan. Now 4 years into her Boston residence Jess has yet to achieve that level of fun in Bean Town, but looks forward to breaking that spell when Nina and Scott finally visit. If anyone has an airport wheelchair in New England we can borrow for a weekend DM me.
Jenny Burke FitzGerald
Jenny and Nina go all the way back to yoga teacher training when they bonded over the wise teachings of Mrs. Alec Baldwin. Their friendship only strengthened when they reconnected as roommates in Los Angeles and Nina helped Jenny move her belongings into Nina’s apartment from Jenny's apartment down the alley (they literally carried her dresser down the alley). Despite her peaceful yoga demeanor, Scott finds Jenny terrifying and is still trying to figure out if she’s Team Scott. She’s Team Nina all the way, which means she now fully backs #teamscina!!!
Brian Tucci
I was 11 when Scott graduated high school, and was sitting in my freshman dorm as Scott was accepting his law school diploma….goes to show you, age is just a number…unless you have friends who continually call you out on it!
Lisa Shore
Born and half raised in Los Angeles, California Lisa is Scott’s older, wiser and decidedly better looking sibling. A member of The Go To Your Room Hall of Champions, Lisa currently resides in Atlanta GA with her extremely patient husband Sheldon, their four children and one dog. Lisa is the only member of her family without a Y chromosome. In her free time Lisa enjoys Soul Cycle, gardening, outdoor concerts, Amazon Prime and incessantly texting Scott.
Melkorka Kjarval
The other middle sister.
Martin Aarons
Scott and Martin go back to Beth El preschool days, yes, even then he would try on 8 different outfits after naptime before heading out for afternoon snack. Pre-school turned to Shabbos ball, game nights of Risk, counselors at Saginaw, boxing, and endless other adventures over the past 41+ years of friendship. Needless to say, Scott hasn’t changed much and that’s why we love him. Aaron was fortunate to have met Nina with Scott back in January 2018 and asked him how long they’d been dating….Scott’s reply: “not dating, she’s a friend” to which I replied – that is something you need to fix. Happily, they fixed it together.
Robyn Cohen
The groom and I have known each other since he was born. We’ve experienced ups (road trip to Austin) and downs (his obsession with Thundercats) together. After he graduated UT, he came out to LA for a visit with 6 months worth of clothes, a TV, and a VCR. He was there when I had my first kid, he came to the hospital straight from a night out, there were several outfit changes and even a nap in the delivery room. But I have to say, the groom is not only a great friend who always has my back, but an awesome brother!! Can’t wait for Nina to be my sister!
Josh Nathan
Scott and I grew up together becoming friends in the Mountain Fighter 4 (MF4) gang in Phoenix AZ committed to going left when we were told to go right by anyone that told us what to do. Scott and I reunited both living in Seattle many years later when he worked for Amazon, until he continued his journeyman ways and left for sunnier skies in SoCal. I first heard about Nina at one of the MF4 reunions in New Orleans in early 2018 when he spoke of their friendship. Though he didn't think so at the time, I suspected that it would blossom into love and was happy to be right!
Ulla Kjarval
Nina’s oldest sister, but is she the wisest.
Pete Tedesco
Dr. Dre was wrong - wherever Pete & Scott are is the state where they never find a dance floor empty. The two first met in their first days of business school. While Scott's trademark tardiness and Pete's trademark punctuality initially led to some fierce altercations, they soon forged an equally intense bond based on a mutual obsession with music, good food, LBJ, and sardonic wit (typically directed at each other). More than a decade later, they've maintained a strong friendship largely due to the fact that neither has matured in the slightest. Somehow Nina has not only tolerated but actually supported this, so you know it's meant to be.
Sari Rogoff
Raindrops on roses
And whiskers on KitKat (our dog).
Wake surfing mornings while not feeling so fat.
Wild girls weekends and sparkly rings.
These are a few of my favorite things.
Blanco tequila and soda with lime
Manis and pedis are oh so sublime
Great dining please with my hubby so fine
That and wine tasting are hobbies of mine
When the kids fight
When the forests burn
When I’m stuck on hold
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so old.
Vala Kjarval
Since she was born, Vala has admired Nina, thinking her the smartest, coolest, funniest, and prettiest person she knows. In fact, Vala thinks that Nina is the greatest older sister that ever was, so great in fact, she sometimes forgets she has two more. Vala first met Scott in a terrarium themed bar and the odd lighting was a great start to their friendship.
